Post Studio is a Brisbane-based photography and visual content studio led by Ilya Postnikov, a second-generation photographer and visual director with more than 20 years of professional experience.
Raised in Kazakhstan in a family closely connected to photography and film production, Ilya learned the craft long before digital photography became the industry standard. Early experience included working with film, darkroom processes and the practical rhythm of production environments, followed by professional work across Kazakhstan, Dubai and Australia.
That background extends well beyond taking photographs. Years spent in graphic design, advertising, pre-press and print production developed a strong understanding of how images are actually used — in campaigns, publications, packaging, websites, social media, presentations and large-format applications. It means each brief is approached not only as a photography assignment, but as a piece of visual communication with a specific audience and purpose.
Today, Post Studio works across commercial photography, corporate photography, events, unit stills, behind-the-scenes coverage, film productions and live performance. The approach is documentary-led, visually considered and practical: understand the environment, anticipate the moment and create images that remain useful long after the shoot.
Based in Brisbane and working across South East Queensland, Australia and internationally, Ilya collaborates directly with brands, agencies, venues, production teams and businesses. Post Studio is intentionally personal — one experienced photographer involved from the first conversation through to the final delivery, with a clear understanding of both the creative and commercial demands of the work.

Photography with a commercial and production background behind it
Post Studio is led by Ilya Postnikov, a second-generation photographer and visual director with more than 20 years of professional experience across photography, graphic design, advertising, print production and visual communication. That broader background shapes the way each brief is approached: not simply as a set of photographs, but as visual material that has to function in a real campaign, publication, website, presentation or production.
Based in Brisbane and working across South East Queensland, Australia and internationally, Post Studio collaborates directly with businesses, agencies, venues and production teams. The studio remains intentionally personal, with one experienced photographer involved from the first conversation through planning, shooting, editing and delivery.
What does production-aware mean?
It means understanding schedules, crews, approvals, locations and the practical realities around a shoot, then working in a way that supports the production instead of slowing it down.
Where does Post Studio work?
Brisbane is home base, with regular work across South East Queensland and the ability to travel interstate or internationally when a project requires it.
